As I read more of these posts just thought I'd toss out the "why" of getting a Cardi as a 2nd dog. I had a very hard time getting a Pem 2 years ago. I was the kind of person a breeder would not want to give a puppy to. I was single, worked full time, and had never had a dog. If I had a nickel for everytime I heard "you can't handle a Corgi" I could endow Corgi Aid!
I wanted a Pem and it was all about the butt! I love the bunny butt.
When it bacame clear Tucker was not meant to be an only dog, I turned to a woman who lives nearby who breeds Cardis. I knew she had one pup left and suspected because she had a white face, she would never go to a show home. As it turned out, her personality was a very mellow, what I was looking for and what the breeder thought would be a good fit with Tucker. And so far it's a perfect match. I swore up and down I would never have two dogs, it has been a wonderful decision. Tuck and Lulu look so happy.
No great insight into Cardis, I had met several of the breeders dogs before and loved them. But if the breeder had Pems, I would have got a Pem. I just couldn't cope with the whole breeder search again.
THAT BEING SAID: I Love the Tail!!!! Lulu shows so much emotion with her tail. I walk the two of them and when we are not heeling (I find it hard to heel with two!) I get the rear view of one bunny butt and one tail flapping in the breeze. It's a hoot! When she sees something out of place, her tail lowers and she barks. When she's walking by Tucker it's as high in the air as she can get it. When she see's the neighbors Dobermans, it's wagging for all she's worth.
I love them both.
