It is normal for puppies to try to eat things they shouldn't. This is where you come in with trying to make sure that he doesn't get ahold of the wrong stuff.

Do you have the time to participate with Chico in a puppy class? He is at a good age to start. My suggestion is when you find that he is chewing on something tht he shouldn't be, remove the object and at the same time say
"drop it" and redirect him to some toy that he can have. Teaching him the
"leave it" command would also be helpful and puppy class can also help you with that.

Of course, we can't watch our dogs 24/7 and they will get into things every now and then, but keep your eye on what he is putting in his mouth.
