I would be very suspect of any trainer that only wants to work with the dog. You can teach a dog, and have it behave a certain way with one person... but if you then turn around and give it to someone else (in this case, back to the owner) the dog will revert back to it's orriginal behaviors if the owner has not been taught as well. For me, I don't like the way it sounds... and I would never ever just drop Checkers off with someone and not be able to observe everything going on. Espeically for a dog that could be fearful already. The point of a dog behaviorist is not to teach the dog... it's to teach the human. I like Cesar's quote from his show in that regard. "I rehabilitate dogs, I train people" (or something like that). Yes, Milo needs some help... but unless you are participating in that process it won't make sense to you and he will eventually go back to his old ways after being home. I would keep looking if it were me... there has got to be someone better around....
