Depending on the circumstances, ignoring them does work - Chip used to bark and attack the vacuum cleaner every time I got it out and I just ignored him and went about vacuuming corgi fluff. Now he doesn't even pay any attention to it. Now Lady, when there is a thunder storm, she hides and trembles and pants. Very sad to see her. I think she had been shot at before we got her. One day, she will probably have a heart attack. I would not even think of playing a tape of a storm - she is 14 and it would cause way to much stress.
