Treatment of animals by children is a learned behavior starting from young childhood. If the parents don't like animals, alot of times the children don't either and never learn how to properly take care of a pet. I think that is why alot of dogs end up in the backyard on a chain. I have never liked spiders Yuk but I never killed them in front of my children. My oldest son will still carry one that he finds in the house outside and release it. We used to do this when he was little. I detest rats and mice and my children aren't fond of them either and will set out poison and that is a good thing. LOL
