The food aspect for possibly causing skin allergies is very tricky. You can't simply brush it off as the cause of Yogi's problem. I would not want to restrict my Corgi to just one type and brand of dry food (kibble) on the basis that any other could cause a skin problem. Most kibble brands contain similar bulking ingredients. Then there are a whole range of food items that could relate to an allergy. But we are dealing here with a 13 year old Pem who for the past 13 years must have surely had a wide variety of food and it appears that only now is there a problem. Allergiies can even come from chicken let alone beef and lamb. But these allergies are usually sorted out when the dogs are puppies - but it still takes a huge effort to isolate the affending food item.
Taylor had an allergy when he was a puppy - and he went on a no wheat, no beef, diet - as these two items (along with cow's milk) are the most usual cause of an allergic reaction to food. But thankfully, it turned out to be an ivy type vine growing in our garden that was the villian. So it's back to beef and the odd wheaty stuff. Taylor's allergic symptoms was a bit of pinky-redness around his mouth and foot licking. Aloe Vera definitely helped when applied to thses areas.
