Hi Kathy - welcome!

I'm Deb owner of Rupert, male tri-colour 4.5 years old Pembroke and Jemma, female red and white, 9 months old.

I second the posts above me. Weight loss works the same for dogs as people, it's science. Less or lower calorie food and more exercise. I prefer to use low cal dog food, so they can still have quantity - that's what Rupe eats as he's a big boy. Find a good quality brand of lower calorie food and read the package for recommended feeding amounts for the desired weight. I feed mine twice a day as I personally feel eating once a day is not enough for active dogs. Get Sammy moving inside with games of fetch, get him out walking and if you have a fenced in area fetch outside too! He'll certainly benefit from the exercise and the special time with you!
There's lots of folks here that can help you learn how to be a great Corgi owner/ownee! Let's see some photos of Sammy soon!
