Even when it is not really necessary, isn't nice to ask your Corgi to sit and stay and they do for as long as it takes you to give them the next instruction.
I have a three-legged set of instructions - the first is HOLD IT (stop 'dead'), then SIT and then STAY.

Good on you Susan, It is a excellent achievement especially when you only half expect it to go to plan. I'm certain you will have both dogs doing it in unionism before long.
