Jackie's pretty goodwith the changing of the decorations for Christmas (or she was last year, anyway . . .). But whenever she shows apprehension or fear of anything silly like that, I put her on leash and we go over to investigate the offending object together (not too close at first). Nice & calm, like it's no big deal (which it's not). We work our way up to it, treating at regular intervals as long as she remains calm. Then, when we are done and she is off-leash, I put a few treats right next to / around whatever it is and leave them there for her to investigate and discover on her own. This way she has some positive associations, instead of just fear and mistrust.

Maybe you could do this with the throw rugs & the "lookout" chair when you find a new place for it? Show her the new lookout post & give treats when she gets up to look out the window, so she knows this is her new perch?
