OMG! MissyGambler's mom must by picking up my vibe because I was thinking the same thing! People make fun of me because sometimes Milo gets a little mess on his "pants" and I use huggies wipes to clean his behind. I was using those doggie wipes, you know, the kind where you get 6 of them for like $2000. (just kidding). Anyway, I asked my vet if there was any reason why I couldn't use baby wipes and he said no, just get the kind with no scent. So I bought huge pack of wipes and it is only $3 or so. Milo is so used to it now, I just pick up those 2 back legs and wipe away (just like you would a baby). I don't do it everytime he has a doodle, just when he needs it.
When people laugh at me I say, "hey i'd rather do this than clean it off of my carpet or furniture!" No one can argue that logic. I use the rolls of doggie bags that fit in a pouch made by outward hound. It dispenses a bag as you pull on them. It has another compartment for keys or treats and velcros to his flexi-leash. I know the basic plastic grocery bag is cheaper but they are so big and a pain to carry around. At home in the yard I use a pooper scooper that needs only one hand to open and close. It came in real handy one day when I found a dead squirrel in the yard....no way I was picking that up. So I used the pooper scooper to pick up mr. dead squirrel.
When Milo was at his annual appointment last year, the vet was trying to get a fecal sample (because I forget to bring one in) and I about died laughing because she did a double take and said, 'this is the cleanest dog butt I ever saw...do you wipe him??' Needless to say it was too clean to get a sample! We both laughed because it was just so silly and Milo just stood there with that Corgi grin and his clean butt.
