Bobbie - I run the Wellington Welsh Corgi Walking Club (WWCWC) in New Zealand. Tell me what kind of events etc that have been arranged for your picnic.
WWCWC has a Christmas bush walk for 60 to 70 minutes and picnic coming up on December 3 and the extra events so far I have penciled in are: Corgi gift exchange, and for the humans wine, beer, spirits etc rather than coffee and tea.
