Once I read that a dog shouldn't get possessive about their home, (protective) until they are almost a year old. If they start barking much at strangers sooner than that it could indicate they may become biters. Anyway, I feel Yoda is much too young to be feel the need to bark.
About apartment dogs, I have a large lot but it is not fenced so I take Duchess out on a leash and sometimes let her loose at the back of my property where she can chase squirrels. I walk her twice a day down a country road and try to get her off the leash at a dog park once a day.
Duchess is not an active dog and hardly ever "Fraps". She is a good canidate for an apartment dog.
It is the attention the pets get that is important. Not whether they have a yard.
A pair of gorgious Great Danes that we meet frequently at the dog park live in an apartment.
