Last christmas was Dillon's first. We had more things under the tree for him than for us...each individually wrapped...no ribbons on them. He had his own stocking which was stuffed with toys and such. Yes, he learned to unwrap his own presents (only) by the second one! He had so much fun. I am not sure who had more fun, us or him! We couldnt stop laughing. I got one present, he got one present, my husband got one, by the end he was the only one with presents left so it was ALL about him. He gets the toy out and then runs off with it for about 30 seconds, just long enough for him to put it near his other toys next to his toy box. It was cute, Just watch to make sure they don't eat the wrapping, only tearing it. And for this year i have put all food items ( both dog treats and human foods like chocolates, and such) off the floor out of Dillon's reach. Interestingly he wont rip open the packages until we sit down and offer him one...and only then the one that is given...very funny...

ZdogZ- I do understand how hard it is to take the tree out when you have reminders of ones that have passed over to the bridge...I lost my beloved soulmate kitty Clinton jan 29,2005 and when I pulled out the tree in '06 there were his hairs all over the tree skirt...I spent an hour in tears. Then i went to the "things Remembered" store, got a silver picture frame ornament and had it engraved with his name and date of his passing and I got one of my favorite photos of him put in the frame and now that goes on my tree as a way to have him right there with the family at every Christmas...I wish you peace -Emilie
