The airlifting of Taylor from Christchurch airport to Wellington airport - a distance of some 500 kilometres including flying over the Cook Strait (a sea which divides the South Island from the North Island of NZ), cost $60 plus I had to send back the special dog flight crate to Christchurch by courier which cost another $10.

Aside from all the other considerations, if I had gone by car, the ferry trip accross the sea would have been more than $60 alone - over and back costs approx $300 including the vehicle and one person only.

Flying can be cost effective.
