We feed either Hills or Eukanuba Adult - large dog size kibble. This comes from the vet and costs an arm and a short leg, but is worth it. Poor Mousie got the dog roll from the supermarket - not the cheapest, but dog roll. We were much poorer then and more ignorant. She had lots of problems with itchy skin on her tummy and I reckon that may have been due in part to the poorer quality food.
Clogs occasionally gets dog-breath, and when she does, I find that giving her a small breakfast of around 1/4 of a teaspoonful of crushed garlic mixed well into a couple of tablespoons of yogurt, and then thinned with some pet milk will reduce the stinkyness considerably. Interestingly, she does not end up with garlic breath. The garlic seems to neutralise the stink.
