Diane,
Another thread to take a peek at is the male vs female thread LOL! In corgis the females can be the more...stubborn...alpha ... etc... I would take a peek at it. I have been told ( ok, all with female corgis , no offence at all!) that males are a bit sweeter than the females..again, look up the thread here called male vs female and you should be able to see an interesting debate on the subject.
You are going about this the right way, taking your time, reading up, talking to real live owners about their dogs, seeing the good and the bad and going to shows to see the dogs there, asking questions...smart smart smart. I wish more people would take their time and really make sure they are making the right decision.
Some of the corgi households i know have corgis with other larger breeds and they get along fine- in fact on this forum there are people with larger breed dogs with corgis and they get along fine : australian shepherd, German shepherd, lab, doberman, rotweiler, etc...so they can certainly hold their own...not a delicate dog for sure!

Have fun at the show, wish i lived closer to go- sounds like fun!

Emilie
