Undercover Wicca
Every year for the past four years I have been a judge at the Jack Russell Club of Alberta's annual Summer Show. They have a host of things for terrorists, I mean terriers to do- go to ground, lure course, steeplechase, tracking, obedience and agility. It is always a ton of fun and I enjoy watching all the bad little dogs do their stuff. Anyway- two summers ago I had just gotten Wicca and didn't want to leave her at home with the other dogs so brought her along for the experience. Well, as you all know a corgi can be as wild and unruly as a Terrier can get and Wicca fit right in! I had asked the organsiers if it would be okay to bring her and they said no problem and that she could even play if I wanted. So play she did- JRT Style! She lure coursed, did the puppy tunnel for go to ground and stayed at the quarry for a full 30 seconds!
So all weekend no one said much to me about her except to gush over how cute she was- so as the ribbons are being handed out and placements called out at the end of Sunday- I had a lady come up beside me and say "They missed your dog! You should go say something- I know she placed first in that class"
I laughed and said "oh- she's not really entered, I had her here just for fun"
The woman was confused and answered "Well, why not? She might be a bit long for a Jack but she ran just as good as all the others!"
I burst out laughing and explained to the woman that Wicca was a corgi- not a jack. The look on her face was probably the funniest part of it all.
