Jackie is a fluffy (no, really?), and I have a jacket for her to wear in the snow to keep the snowballs from forming (as Linda mentioned). But she only wears it when we are walking in the snow. If it's muddy - I just let her get muddy and dry her off with her towel when we come inside. You could also keep a spray bottle by the door to spray off the belly mud, then dry with a towel. Such are the perils of having a low-rider.
