Merrie - that is interesting. Vets in New Zealand currently recommend that small breeds of dogs (smaller than a Corgi) should be given puppy food until they are 10-12 months of age, larger breeds than this fed puppy food until they are around 12 months while the very large breeds - and that would definitely include Mastiffs - are fed puppy food until they are 16 -18 months.
But I am talking about normal healthy and active dogs. Some individual dogs would require specific type of food and different feeding regimes.
