I am really curious to hear response to this -- but for a different reason.
My first puppy class w/ Tucker assigned us a short book to read. I can't remember the author but when I read this I said no way: Something to the effect that when the pup is young, don't give it too much attention. yes, train it, praise it for things like pottying outside, drop it, leave it, etc.
I of course paid truck loads of attention to my pup and to this day I truly wonder if verbal praise means little to them because I raised them with a lot of verbal reinforcement and tons of attention.
