My corgi is great with kids, just a little over excited and tries to herd the little ones when they run. My two littlest grandkids call him the "bad dog" cause he would herd them, not biting or nipping, just running around in front of them trying to keep them in place LOL!! Now, the corgi/chow mix, we sorta watch, since she is a rescue and don't know how she was with kids before. They like her, cause she will pretty much roll on her back for petting. But, the running in the yard, she seems way to protective of her territory (the chow in her), so I make her stay by my side. I think 5 is old enough to learn how to treat a dog and work with the puppy curbing that herding instinct, they should be best buddies.
