Thanks to all who answered my thread. I am leaning toward an older dog (beyond the puppy stage) from a breeder as that is how I aquired my cairn terrier - Duncan. He was 11 months old - both parents were on site - and he had been raised around the breeder's grandchildren. We have been very pleased with the way he interacts with Aidan - they really love each other. My next question would be whether a male or female would be a better fit....or does it matter?
