The paucity of entries with most breeds at most conformation shows, shows up the poor side of dog showing. It certainly downgrades champion titles. Group and Best-in-Show awards are much more challenging. This is what the agility people in New Zealand don't want to emulate - titles gained without much competition. At present to win or come runner-up in an agility event in NZ at a championship meeting (which gains a Challenge Certificate), you have got to beat up to 200 other competitors.
How is this for a change in the conformation showing system: Only award points for group and in-show wins or runners-up and no champions allowed in group and in-show competition. These will have their own competition. Will that work?
