I tried the Dis-Taste with Jackie when she was younger, with no success. She had a problem eating her poop from the newspapers, before she was house trained. She never ate it outside, but I guess the temptation was too great for her between walks while we were at work.
It's worth a shot, though, as it obviously works for lots of dogs. You can't judge anything by Jackie, I guess . . . she's a nut!
