Great news today in New Zealand, the Government has decided that they have not got enough support to ban the docking of tails of those breeds of dogs that have their tails docked. This of course means that Pemborke Corgis in NZ will continue to have their tails docked - banded in the third day of their lives is by far the best and painless method. It goes against the trend of countries with close association with NZ eg Britain and Australia. The NZ Kennel Club through Lesley Chalmers (who is a leading Pembroke Corgi breeder etc) and various dog clubs put up a very strong pro-docking campaign. If anyone in the USA wants to get hold of Chalmers and her group's blueprint for opposing the docking ban proposal, contact me.
