My first pair of "dog" scissors were blunt tipped ones. I felt safer with them and recommend that for someone just learning to trim feet.

Now I use the shorter scissors made for trimming hair. You can even get an inexpensive pair at Wal-Mart. Or as Debbie says Sally Beauty Supply.

I do not recommend sewing scissors although you can get them in various lengths and sizes. I recommend scissors made for cutting hair.
