My New Corgi - 08-28-2007, 07:12 PM

I thought I'd just share a quick story about my recent rescue of a sort, of a tri colored Corgi from Kentucky. He was raised on a Corgi farm in Kentucky and was one of several males but, he was not involved in the breeding because he had too much family there...his Mom, sisters, aunts, Granny, etc. So, he began looking for a home and I just happened to have one ready and available.

I went to see him and saw he was a bit shy and introverted and wondered if we'd make a go of it or not. The others I met were very friendly and extroverts compared to Bubba. There was something about him I liked and we spent the day and night there (my sister and I) and I ended up bringing him back with me. This rqquired a lot of changes on my part as I had no fenced in yard, nothing dog related...no crate, food, toys food and water bowl-nothing. It had been a long time since Katie's passing and I felt ready for another in my life although no other would ever take her place. I had the back fenced in, bought a new crate with internal pads and cushion, stainless bowls, a dozen toys, two different bags of not so cheap food, and so on.

He has proven to be the best thing that's happened to me in a long time and I don't regret one minute of his being here. We've bonded greatly and he sleeps right beside me at night in his crate. In fact, he knew all too well what a crate was as it took no coercion on my part to get him in there. I only need go into the bedroom and he follows going immediately into the crate. He walks nicely on leash and has a wonderful temperament-not food, dog or human aggressive but, more of a couch potato type. I've seldom heard him bark, except when he's in his crate and I'm downstairs he lets me know he wants me with him by barking 2-3 times. After I retire, he settles down and never makes another sound. A wonderful boy of three years old as of August 16th and a beautiful tri Corgi that I love dearly and thought I'd share a few pics of him.
