We just had a new baby in July. I had the same concerns you did about our K.C. But everything has worked out great. She was a little jealous in the beginning, constantly barking or jumping on us to get attention, but she settled in and warmed up to the new family member. KC slept in our bedroom under our bed. We thought about moving her back to her crate downstairs when the baby came, but she behaved well around the baby, that we didn't have to do that. Now she sleeps under the crib.
Bring home a baby's blanket before the baby comes home so Kensy gets familiar with the baby's scent. When one of us; my husband, stepdaughter or I is holding the baby, the others would pet/play with KC so she doesn't feel neglected. As far as the barking, at first the baby would startle at the barking, but she got used to it and sleeps through it as if it were nothing.
KC has adapted to the baby really well and treats her like the rest of the family, giving her kisses and sticking her head under her hands to be petted. We just make sure we're always keeping a close eye on her in case she suprises us with a sudden move or something out of the ordinary.
