I have an African Grey parrot who I had before we got Ruby, our Cardigan. In 5+ yrs they have established absolutely no relationship. The bird ignores Ruby and Ruby is intimidated by the bird. Ruby has tried on several occasions to smell the bird's anus but always hits the birds tail with her nose and that ends that.

The parrot yells a lot of the commands I give Ruby such as "sit" and says my "get out of here" with the same annoyed expression I use towards Ruby when I am mad at her.

Ruby is not allowed in the room we keep the bird and is a good girl regarding not entering the room when we are around. I have a sneaking suspicion that she has gone into the birds room behind our back as I have seen her coming from that direction with her tail sort of off to the right.

African Greys are great parrots to own and ours is very interactive.

Greys have to be surgically sexed to determine their sex and both sexes talk equally well as is the case with the 2nd best talking parrots-the Amazons.
