Today I was at work, sitting out in my car on my break and I looked up and saw a man walking a red and white Pem. I watched them walk by and resisted the urge to get out of my car and go say hi, but when they walked by a second time, I couldn't help myself. I asked the man about his dog and told him about Waeryn. His dog was a 3 year old male named Teddy and was born in Oregon (like Waeryn!). He was a very pretty dog, but I noticed that he seemed pretty big. My aunt has a female Corgi (Boots), but Teddy seemed to be a lot bigger than Boots is. The man told me that Teddy is about 10 lbs heavier than male Corgi's are supposed to be. He wasn't fat at all, which is good, he was a little just taller and longer (he didn't seem HUGE or anything, he didn't even seem like he would be 10lbs over the standard). He was such a sweetie though!

Since we're on the topic of Corgi sizes...

While I was waiting for Waeryn to get old enough for me to bring her home I saw an add for Corgi puppies in my area. I had no interest in buying a puppy from these people, but I was interested in going to look at them because the only Corgi that I had ever actually seen (in real life) was Boots and she is full grown. The pups were 7 weeks old, so I thought they'd give me a good idea of what to expect when I brought my 8 week old puppy home. When I got there I saw a tri-colored adult dog, which I assumed was the mother because it was small (seemed small even for a female). Upon entering the Moblie Home (these dogs were owned by a divorced man living in a Mobile Home park that decided to breed his two pet Corgis). I saw 3 tiny Corgi pups and a red and white adult that was even smaller than the Tri! I soon found out that the Tri was the father, not the mother. He was smaller than Boots even. The mother looked like she was in bad shape. Her coat looked awful and she was missing patches of hair on her nose. It was so sad! The father seemed healthy enough except for his size and the pups seemed healthy, even though they seemed small. At the time I wasn't sure if they were small for puppies, or if that was the normal size for a 7 week old Corgi pup. After getting Waeryn, I realized that at 8 weeks old Waeryn was about twice as big as those 7 week old pups! I don't know if this guy was trying to make "mini" Corgis or not, but it was just a bad situation. I don't think that he miss-treated his dogs though, because all looked pretty healthy (not counting the size issue) except for the mother.

Wow, I just meant this thread to be about my good Corgi experience today, but it ended up talking about a bad one as well. Sorry!
