way back when I was a little girl, my grandparents owned a "toto" dog (like in the wizard of oz) My grandpa took her for a walk and a pit bull was unleased in an owners yard and took off and grabbed Toto and shook her violently. My grandpa pried the dogs jaws off of her and ran home. Both had lost a lot of blood and were a mess. Toto went to the emergency office and was greatly injured but lived. My grandpa went to the hospital for stitches. I remember Toto was never the same again, and I think her life was shortened due to the attack. I was too young to understand but I don't know what my grandparents did about the dog's owner. I think they paid all the vet and hospital bills. But now a days the dog would have been put down for attacking another person and dog. I know what to look for if a dog will be friendly or not, but I don't fool around with any breed, it isn't worth the possible outcome.
