This is an interesting angle. In New Zealand, it is the breeder who registers a recognised pure bred litter or members of the litter with the NZ Kennel Club so that the new owner (buyer) has no say in the matter of the registered name(title) of their dog. It matters between little and zero because all dogs get a name that is termed a 'pet' name and it of course can be as obscure from the registered name as possible.
