My past female Corgi was rushed to the doctor one afternoon because of an insect bite; either a spider or a bee, but her entire muzzle swelled up twice the size. He gave her some sort of shot - not sure what it was, but it took care of the swelling, however, within hours after that, she had vomiting and diarrhea - I just remember that day. Amazing what a bug bite can do.

My vet said that different types of grass can be the culprit and with Corgis being so low to the ground, well, their undersides and most of their legs come in contact with just about anything.

I would not give Benedryl without consulting your vet first. Mine told me the dosage I could give Cody based on his weight and said if necessary, I could give it 3x a day. I have not given him any as of yet. He said if Cody ever got stung by a bee or swelled up from a bug bite, I could give him benedryl and that would help him/ However, I am not a doctor, so everyone should consult their own.

Proteins in food can be a culprit for skin allergies - often times, food like venison, or lamb may be a better choice, or foods without wheat. It is trial and error and can be hard because most of us are probably slipping people food treats now and then.
