When you said show I was thinking dog show not horse show.

Ok, so he's a commercal breeder at best, a puppy mill at worst.

As for megan, she is 11 (look at my sig), i feed her 1/4 cup of purina senior, and a teaspoon to a tablespoon of wet food. 2 milkbone cookies a day, and a little trears hroughout the day
At her age, a thyroid problem would not be uncommon. Have you had her checked for that? If not I suggest you do. Cut out the little treats throughout the day and break ONE milkbone in to peices. Give her a tiny peice at a time. They like the treats not the size.

I'd cut back on the canned food too.

Please get her thyroid checked. Excess weight can cause heart problems, kidney problems and so on and cut her life short.
