I don't know about being intentionally misinformed, but there are many tris out with that much white, some of them with the white correctly placed and doing quite well in the show ring. As for it being a "good" thing, whoever told you it was, that might be their personal preference - they like a lot of white and so believe it to be a good thing.

Also just a random question do all corgis or atleast pembrokes have that trademark whitle going up the back of thier neck?

No, not all of them do.
As for LaRogue 's question:
" I'd also like to ask about the head blaze. Is that for the entire head or the front? Just curious. Pip has a blotch of white on the back of his head, similar (but bigger) than the one in Corgi_Lover's second picture."
A blaze is wider in a puppy and closes in as the dog grows up, which you've probably seen already. It can go all the way up between the eyes, over the head and into the collar. More likely to see this in Cardigans than in Pems, but can happen - just saw it on the head of a little foster Pem girl on her way to tend to business. Usually the blaze goes up between the eyes and stops on top of the head. One can go up and over the head and surround a fairy kiss (a spot of coat color in the middle of the white on top of the head), color usually closes in around these though. There can be a lot of variations on the theme.
