The key to any homemade diet is not just picking out things you think the dog might like, but making sure that it's balanced. Though adding a tidbit of something to their diet isn't all bad, too much of a good thing can be. I suggest that if you want to do more home cooking, that you use tried and true tested recipes that have nutritional content break downs, caloric counts and are ok'd by your vet.

Now that being said, my vet and I have had many discussions on what to feed, add, etc. Gone over certain supplements too. My dogs get yogurt a couple of times a week. Currently the ducks are laying like it's the end of the world, so when I have enough to feed the entire crew, everyone gets a raw egg for dinner. When the garden is going full force, they might get a slice of tomato, few greenbeans, peas, slice of beet or what ever is in season. But I don't do it everyday and in moderation.

Biggest thing is having a knowledgeable vet and an animal nutritionist to talk to.
