Linda - I am quite unconcerned about a Corgi over six months old jumping off beds and doing other such activities that are not the equivallent of jumping six feet. So I wouldn't worry about it at all. In agility, Taylor has jumped off near the very top of the big dogs A-frame onto the ground during competition - so that must be over six feet - and he's fine and dandy from the experience and is happy to do it again and again - but of course it means he misses the contact area near the bottom of the frame and that's not good.
Pleased that Cody is into climbing up and down steps. Corgis are very hardy customers - so just treat him like he is a much bigger dog and you'll feel less worried and more confident about Cody's capabilities.
