URGENT: Needs a new home or he will be euthanized - 03-09-2008, 12:44 PM

I have a Corgi named Tucker. He is red and white, purebred, 5 1/2 years old. We got him in 2003.

He has IVDD which I am sure you know about. At the moment his condition is good, he is not paralyzed, he can hold his bowels and bladder (boy, can he ever!) and he is not in severe pain. His discs are not calcified. His first flare up was in Nov. 2007, which was when we were in the middle of moving from AZ to PA. His second one was near the end of February, only 4 months from the first.

He has never been a pack dog really, and we have 2 other dogs. Never really liked the hustle and bustle of our family either. But now with his disease, it's clear he cannot stay here. He is grumpy and is attacking one of our dogs if he comes near him for more than a minute or two. He has attacked him three times in 2 days. That, and we live in a 3 story house and 2 1/2 acres. He could easily hurt himself by running up/down stairs. Right now he is living in our basement/downstairs entertainment room because he is attacking our other dogs.

We are getting two puppies next Monday so we really need to make a decision for him. Even if we weren't getting the puppies, we would need to do this anyways because he is attacking the other dogs. My parents are going to put him to sleep if I cannot find a caring home for him, and that really scares me.

He is in good health otherwise. Heart, lungs, kidneys and liver all good. He needs a home without other dogs OR an old dog who will NOT bother him. He lives with a cat, he has also lived with our many guinea pigs, hamsters, rats and birds and ignores them. Older, mature kids are good with him. He cannot have a house with stairs, OR he will need someone who is willing to gate off the stairs so he cannot go up or down.

Our living situation does not allow him a happy life like he should have. We are willing to pay for surgery DIRECTLY to a veterinarian, not out of pocket. We live near Exton, PA and willing to travel to DE, MD, anywhere in PA, NJ. If anyone is outside of those states we are willing to work something out, but we would prefer he doesn't have to fly all the way across the country!

I hope someone here can find him a home. His photo is here: http://i27.tinypic.com/iyzvpf.png
