Julie,
I'm so excited for you! You had asked me how Doxie's and Corgi's compare ... well, I think Doxie's and more portable ... you can carry them around (your Doxie is really small compared to ours, Carmar is 13 pounds and Seel is 9 pounds ... seel is a true mini where as I think Carmar is a tweeny). I don't know either breed well from breeding or anything, only from my experiance with both. Each dog has it's own personality but I think Doxie's have a bigger stuborn streek. Corgi's seem to be very easy going and big time people fans. They instintually know baby from child, child from adult and adult to geriatic and adjuts their actions accordingly ... at least Harley will as has every one who I've talked to who has owned one will. It's really neat to watch them interact with people. Now, this is not to say we don't love our Doxie's, we do ... all the dog's are SPOILED in our house.
How do you deal with small children and Mazy? We have a set of triplet neices who visit once a year from Texas and Seel who is now 10 months old was only the size of yor Mazy the last time they came thru ... I was terrified they would hurt her (they were 3 then) so I kept a vigallant eye and never allowed the puppy to be alone with them. We don't have any children, I'm use to kids ... I have a large family and have taken care of many, many children but never with a small dog ... plus, I think, the girls are a bit on the wild side when they are here because they are out of their routine, allowed to eat massive amounts of sugar along with no discpline from their parent's. Their parents feel that while they are on vacation anything pretty much goes. Ok, we won't go there ... the girl's are pretty good with me anyway.
On another topic, Seel, our 10 month old Doxie, is on the DDD side (Doggie deficet Disorder) our own little Denis the Menace. Is this a normal thing for Doxie puppies? I wasn't around when Carmar came here so I have nothing to compare it to and Harley (the Corgi) was a cake walk ... still is. I remember Seel's mother being kinda hyper but I just put that off to the excitement of people being around.
It's nice to have others who have both these dogs to talk to. I think you will find that the Corgi's are a great breed.
Ok, I'm gonna go look at the puppes now.
Thelma
