It's a racket IMO. Greedy companies preying on people who love their pets. You'll do a lot better putting the $40 or whatever per month into a savings account for vet bills.
Back to the eye thing.... I haven't had that happen to a dog, but it happened to me when I was about 4 years old. Very uncomfortable, I had to have emergency eye care. I don't think they had to cut anything but I remember I felt much better even very shortly after they removed the debris.

my vet had recommended VPI to me too. So you would totally recommend not applying for it? its about $19 a month. I didn't think it was too bad.
