I told Taylor wait until the half time break of a rugby match I was watching live on tv. He went away but came rushing down the stairs at full steam 10 minutes later and screamed at me. My young son called out that he had tried to pick up Taylor and Taylor had lunged at his ear. So Taylor's screamimg was: I don't want that 'brother' of mine, picking me up awkwardly and hurting me especially when I am desperately hungry. So I didn't muck around any further and Taylor got his dinner and all was at peace.
I would have taken the screaming to mean that in being picked up awkwardly the dog was in some way hurt, pinched or something along those lines. Not intentionally and not seriously, but still somehow injured. I don't think being hungry had anything to do with it.

Here I decide when dinner time is for the dogs and that's when they get fed. My dogs do not get to make those kinds of choices. It's part of them knowing who's in charge.
