I saw some pretty nasty fights in dog parks last year. There are some parks I just don't go to anymore. Last Saturday I took Nick to a large dog park and there was a dog (could have been portuguese water dog) who had his number. Nick is pretty submissive so he just rolled on his back and let the other dog sniff him. However the other dog wouldn't let him get up and kept snapping at him. The owner of the other dog was right there and he kept saying don't worry he wont bite him. But you could tell Nick's patience was wearing thin. It looked like Nick was right about to take a piece out of the other dog when I stepped in and grabbed the other dog to give Nick some room. After that everything was fine and the dogs went their own ways. At first I felt that I shouldn't have touched the other guys dog but a lady who saw the whole thing said I did the right thing. I told her "I didn't want to do it but my dog was getting ready to bite" her response was "he was put in a situation that gave him no option to bite.
I guess the point of this story is that if I wasn't paying attention my dog wouldn't have been banished from the park that day.
