As the good doctor said, one of the two most important aspects of dog food is to have informed trust of the producer. A good producer LL recall its products by its own volition if they themselves discover an anomaly before any food agency does or doesn't.

It would be nice if producers would honestly police themselves, but sadly here in the U.S., honesty (which in my opinion begets loyalty to a brand) and profit don't seem to go together any more. I feel the dog food companies who produce their own dog food and ONLY produce pet food are the most likely to have the best interests of pets at heart.
