A few people have commented on this. And while I agree the puppy should not be put down, the owner of the puppy does have the right to request that and if they do the vet is obligated to do so. As awful as that seems.

Sometimes a vet can talk the owner out of putting a healthy dog down and he/she and their staff then find a rescue or home for the animal. Vets don't like putting down healthy animals but sometimes they don't have the choice.

Hopefully the regional Corgi Rescue group will be able to take him, or at minimum he should be placed in a no-kill shelter.
A rescue group would be able to find him a home fairly quickly.

Debbie, Where is he located? Has a rescue group been contacted? Debbie Campbell or I can put you in touch with a group close to you.
