And Ms Peggy, no vet in a western-type society is compelled to kill or euthanise a healthy and able animal let alone a Corgi pup. In New Zealand (as elsewhere without doubt) there is no legal obligation for a vet to put down an animal. Their obligation is to administer to the animal as best they can if the animal is sick or injured. One vet I spoke to recently was visted by an elderly woman and her Lab. The Lab was subjected to one or two seizures a year and the woman wanted the dog to be euthanised. The vet refused because the Lab was fine apart from the odd seizure.
