Lisa,
My past Corgi was either stung by a bee or bitten by a spider a couple of
years ago and her muzzle swelled all up - I immediately called my vet and
took her there pronto and they gave her some shot - I remember her being
ill that same evening with vomiting and having diarrhea.
My vet said to always have the childrens dose of chewable benedryl on hand - in fact, I just talked with him about that. I know the dosage I can give my dog, but since I am not a vet, ask your vet what is appropriate for your dog.
He said if I ever suspect that Cody has been bitten,then I could give Cody a dose and if it didn't help then to call him or take him to the pet emergency center in town(we have one and it is open everyday 24 hours a day)
Ask your vet what is apprpriate for your dog based on the weight. You
may also want to ask what possible symptoms could happen from a bite;
like I said, in my case, it was the muzzle, but maybe the paws could swell
or breathing could be labored - I am not sure.
