Hi, Katz (newbie from Phillipines)
Good morning, Katz. Do you still live in the Phillipines? I'm in New Mexico and want to share with you how I located our two Corgis (one Pembroke, the other a Cardigan).
First of all, I looked at the two breeds' national web sites for rescue and breeder information. As we did not want a young puppy, but a more-mature dog, we felt rescue would be best. At the time, we could not find a good match for us, even though we drove hundreds of miles to a nearby state.
Several months after our search began, I read a Corgi for sale ad in a local newspaper. We bought that overweight Pembroke girl, and she is now in good shape, healthy and happy. Six months later, through the help of various people on two of the Corgi e-mail lists on the internet, we purchased a young Cardigan male.
You asked if a Corgi would be the right dog for a newbie? Maybe or Maybe NOT. It all depends on whether you're willing to let a small dog run you and your household. If NOT, you might want to read about how to be the "alpha" over your dog.
Best of luck.
Lola
