The scabby spots are likely to be dermatitis or eczema. And the cause could very well be the shampoo you used. What I would do is buy a little 100 percent aloe vera and apply some of that to the affected area. If that doesn't help sufficiently over a day or two, then it is to the vet I would go. You have got to be discerning with dog shampoos.
