If you can drive to Arkansas to pick up the puppy, I'd certainly try to do so. It's very traumatic for the puppy to be separated from everything it knows in the first place. Then to be "boxed up" and shipped on top of it. I drove 600 miles to pick up Kali (my avatar photo) and we had a wonderful time bonding on the 600 mile trip back home.

Most breeders that really care about the wellbeing of the animal will not ship them. I'm quite suprised that this breeder has built such a reputation yet is willing to ship a puppy.
