Linda - walking a dog on the left is really just a training method for conformation showing and I guess obedience competition. A dog can go equally as well on left as on right. And for agility competition, it is important to have a dog go either side comfortably. I have Taylor on either right or left -depending where the smellist smells are, where the grassy bits and trees are, sometimes away from a dangerously narrow section of roadway and sometimes away from an approaching dog who does not look friendly.
